The Double D Christmas Number Ones
The longest Running show on Hospital Radio in Sussex is 'The Double 'D' Show'. Since its formation it has evolved and now takes the form of several one off specials over the year and a one-off bumper Christmas Special, where the two Daves take you right the way back to 1952, the first year of the UK Singles chart, and play EVERY Christmas Number one, together with revealing the music trivia which got the artists to the most remembered chart position.
Now a marathon show on the air for 5 hours, it highlights the changes in music and style over what is now 6 decades. Of course the two Daves haven't changed a bit in that time, and they are the longest serving members of the station, both joining in 1974.
The show in fact was around before the 'new Daves' took hold. Back in 1972 it was presented by two of the station's members at the time. The 'Double 'D'' came about from the presenter's surnames and not their first names like it is now, and it was a slightly different show to the one we are more familiar with today.
X Factor
It is true to say that what makes the pop charts so great is the diversity of music that we see enter into the top 10 week by week.
Over the past few years, we have seen an influx of 'Reality music shows' release singles just in time for the Christmas chart, and this happened again in 2009 when Simon Cowell's X Factor winner Joe McElderry released his new single to the chart.
Unfortunately for Joe, he (and Simon!) narrowly missed out on the lucrative festive number 1 position to a 1990s rock band by the name of Rage Against The Machine!
Brought to light by a social network campaign to hault the four year festive domination of ITV's X-Factor winners, Rage... sold so many downloads of their single 'Killing In The Name' that it shot straight to the top, and poor Joe had to wait a week before he had his debut number one.
The Double 'D' Christmas Number Ones plays every Christmas number one hit, regardless of how it came about so you are guaranteed to be taken on a musical journey you really won't forget!.
If you ever find yourself in Hospital over Christmas time, tune in for memories all the way with 'The Double 'D' Christmas Number Ones'.

Dave Field and Dave Vickery - catch them on the Christmas Number Ones on Christmas Day!
